Alan Dunwell is a Colorado luthier who has been building instruments for over twenty years and building professionally since 1994. Alan runs his one man shop out of his home near Nederland, Colorado making instruments one at a time. Each instrument is hand built by Alan personally. Alan is a member of the Guild of American Luthiers (GAL) and The Association of Stringed Instrument Artisans (ASIA). He created and was the head of the Colorado Luthiers organization until he stepped down in 2007.

Alan is now semi-retired doing research in double-top designs and construction. He still builds to order and continues to teach some one-on-one Master Classes.
